Is Blizz giving away our Emails?

I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this...

I played WoW back in 06, 07, and then took a two year brake from it all, not once during that break time did I receive an email from anyone claiming to be Blizzard or Battle.net account management or anything

The Minute I re-subscribe to WoW, I begin to get emails from phasing sites everyday....Usually around 3 -4 a day. They all say either Blizzard Entertainment, WoWaccount, Battle.net or No reply.

I mean i can no longer click on anything that says World of Warcraft in my inbox because of this, so I never know if I am getting a legitimate email.

Why does this happen the minute I resubscribe to Warcraft, its not like I all of a sudden gave out my email to 100's of different websites, the only variable that has changed is my signing up for WoW, and boom I get tons of phishing emails now...

What Gives Blizz?

I can confirm that we are not selling your email address or any of your personal information, Chilladin, and I am sorry to hear you began receiving spam emails shortly after re-subscribing to the game.

We can speculate all day on how someone gets another person’s email address. We are in an age of technology, folks. Most people have email addresses which they may use on various websites, social networking sites, or be on a friend or family member’s email contact list, which another party may have access to.

For those of you who continually receive “Blizzard” emails, we have created a support page on how to distinguish between an actual Blizzard email and a phishing email, which you can find here:

How to Identify Fake or Phishing Emails

You may also consider changing the email address on the Battle.net account if necessary.
