to be able to use the disc to upgrade my account to cata?

I'm thinking of buying the collector's edition of cataclysm but my PC doesn't have a DVD drive. Could I still use my physical copy to play cataclysm and download it through blizzard or something?

A digital option to install Cataclysm should be available at launch, much like Starcraft II and Wrath of the Lich King. Once you add your CD Key to your Battle.net account management page, it should be available for you to download.
