Blizzard charging me $25 for 20k of MY gold

So I had amassed a stockpile of 300,000 gold on my characters on Undermine server (transmute alchemists and jewelcrafter), where I played for 4 years at the behest of my cousin (who since quit playing). But over those years, I watched so many players from the realm transfer away, and the population went from 'Medium', to 'Low', to being marked 'New Players'. It became nigh impossible to even find a raid pug at peak hours, let alone late nights when I'm able to play. It was a ghost realm.

So a few months back I transferred over to Sen'jin, and have 2 chars there now, and am absolutely delighted with the bustling population, especially late at night. But alas, Blizzard has decided to implement a gold limit (20k) on realm transfers ($25), so I'm unable to access my remaining 260,000 gold on my old server without further transfers.

I understand Blizzard has this limit to prevent frequent cash-hopping, but even transferring my remaining 3 characters from Undermine to Sen'jin would only net me 60k of MY gold at the cost of an extra $75, leaving 200k of MY gold sitting on an old realm with no characters (besides a level 1 holding the remaining gold). I feel like Blizzard is both gouging and screwing me for being successful over nearly 6 years of playing WoW and for not wanting to endure on a ghost realm any longer. I'd be happy to pay $25 for one more transfer and be able to bring all of MY HARD EARNED gold with me, but I doubt Blizzard has a heart.

Well, I can appreciate your perspective on this, Inz, but this was a decision made by our developers in the interest of many things, game integrity and realm economic stability I'm sure came into play at some point.

It's not and wasn't intended to attempt to strong-arm you into paying for transfers you don't desire :)

Transfers themselves were an addition made to the game at our player's request so they could join friends and not have to re-roll their characters.

One example of a possible alternative is to research the economies of your original realm, and your new one. See what sells low in one place - and high in another - or at least is about the same. You can convert some of that cash to items and resell once your character arrives at it's new home. Note: This may or may not return all your money -- you can sometimes make a profit so I am not recommending this, simply stating that's how some players handle this situation.

Transfers are always voluntary and as such do come with some limitations - but that's a trade-off made vs. having to totally start fresh to join your friends :)
