"Must have a melee weapon equipped."

I took a break from WoW for several months, not sure how long exactly, but when I came back, upon logging in on my 80 Death Knight, several of my items do not have the icons, but instead just have a question mark. The item description shows up fine, and if I equip them, the icon is restored.

The main problem I have with this, is that my weapon, the Sharpened Edged Obsidian Blade from Heroic Onyxia, will not work for my abilities. I can auto attack mobs with it, still doing white damage, but if a combat ability requires a melee weapon equipped in the main hand, it will give me the error message, "Must have a melee weapon equipped in the main hand". It also says this for the Argent Lance from Trial of the Champion. I have yet to try any other weapons, as I have no way of getting any other weapons to test this with.

I have disabled all my addons, ran the repair utility, and deleted my Cache, Interface, and WTF folders, to no avail, nothing seems to work. I currently have an in-game ticket open, but I figured I would also come here and see if anybody can assist.

When running the repair tool or performing a UI reset make sure you are operating as the Administrator. The Repair.exe tool is designed to check the files you have against what you should and make the adjustments but if you are not running as Administrator and you are using Windows 7 or Vista, those changes will not be made.

Sorry for the wait, ran the repair as admin, and it still didn't work. Anything else anybody can suggest?

Did you try the other steps from the second link, Katbearcow?

There is nothing there for my issue.

Mind logging out of the character for a few? I can take a closer look.

Sure.
This is the character that I'm having trouble with, hope you can find out what's going on.

I was able to log onto the character, the items you described in your petition have icons. I tested your combat abilities and I was able to use all of them. Usually when that happens the issue is client side.

Just to be absolutely certain. When you ran the repair tool as well as completed the UI reset instructions you had the client closed down completely, right?

It sounds like something did not delete correctly so my advice would be run those steps again. Quoted below for convenience.
Q u o t e:

Windows Vista
-Click the Start button, select All Programs, select Accessories and select Windows Explorer.
-In the new window click the + beside the My Computer option, this should expand a list.
-Click the + beside the Hard Disk with the (C:) label on the end (Or whichever Hard Disk the game was installed on).
-Click the + beside Program Files.
-Scroll down until you find World of Warcraft in the list and double click it.
-In the panel on the right there should be a list of files and folders, the WTF, CACHE, and INTERFACE folders should be in this list.
-Single click one of those folders and it should become highlighted, once that folder is highlighted press the Delete key on your keyboard. Do this for all three folders.
- If the UAC is enabled, which it is by default, then the system will also be caching these three folders. Towards the top of the Windows explorer window should be a Link labeled "Virtual store", please click on this. In the Virtual store folder, please check if there is a World of Warcraft folder, and if so please delete the three folders WTF, Cache and Interface from this location as well.
-Once these extra three folders have been deleted you can close Windows Explorer.
-You will need to restart your system at this point.
-Start the game again using the World of Warcraft Launcher, when starting the game right click on the game icon, and select Run As Administrator. This will make sure that any settings you change in game are saved correctly.
