Why are discussions on Real ID being locked?

I have been away from the game for a while and have now just come back to find out just how bad REAL ID really is.

I DONT WANT THIS. PERIOD. and i shouldn't have to explain why.

But if you insist, employers look down at people who play wow. PERIOD and people can't afford this.
There are tons of reasons why people dont want their real name on the internet.

For a stupid game like wow, shouldnt be a problem but it is.
Even if people quit, their accounts have their real names attached with no way of deleting/changing. So this is a real privacy issue.

We didnt join wow knowing or warned that our real names were going to be shared with everyone and anyone out there. We should have a choice.

Every thread I come across is locked.. Why? Why doesnt' Blitzzard want to admit it has made a mistake? Why doesn't it offer people to modify or change these settings or make this an OPT in ability??

inappropriate acronym removed

As others have already mentioned, Holly, Real ID is a fully optional feature. It is not required by anyone to use, and can be completely opted out of by enabling Parental Controls on your account.

I believe you may be experiencing some misinformation. Many changes have come from the feedback provided by our players regarding Real ID - we are adding in a feature to disable the Friends of Friends option so player's names are not available to those they might not have personally invited to their lists. We also decided that at this time, we will keep Real ID and the forums separate.

The numerous locked threads you are likely viewing sound like they might be a month or so old - many of them were locked as there was a central place to provide this feedback and it is best to consolidate these thoughts to make them easier to get to our developers and community managers. If you have further feedback to offer on this service, please let us know in our Suggestion forums.
