Why don't you loot?

As a skinner that's saving up for 300 riding skill, I'm doing everything I can to make that little extra gold.

I'm noticing, all of a sudden, that 3 out of 5 people skip loot. They don't loot anything. Not trash, not bosses, nothing. Just run and kill.

If you're one of these types, why do you do that?

I too, disdain this behavior when I happen upon it.

I believe these bottom feeding ne'er-do-wells fall into three, sub-human categories of shame:

1. They do not have adequate bag space, either through not having the money to purchase them, not having the knowledge that "bag space = gold", or simply not keeping their virtual fanny-packs tidy.
2. They are demon spawn, sent by a great evil to torment me for my wrong doings and enjoyment of things like deep fried oreos.
3. They don't auto-loot, unknowingly missing out on hundreds (thousands?) of gold by the time they reach level 80 simply by picking anything and everything up and selling it.

Ultimately though, and during more stable mental periods, I look at being able to skin someone else's kills as a bonus. It's nice when there's a trail of fresh carcass to take a knife to, but is by no means necessary to hit 300; and by no means should be expected of others to award you with this bonus.

I missed one.

4. Higher level players rep farming where the time investment to looting isn't worth it considering their level, current wealth, etc.

[oops] I realized you're referring specifically to dungeon runs, in which case #4 still applies. They are likely on an alt they're just trying to get leveled as fast as possible, can buy anything they need with their tens (hundreds?) of thousands of gold, and clearing bag space is a waste of good leveling time.

Or it could be:

5: The healer is trying to keep up with the tank, and instead of wasting time with looting a few gold, skips the corpse and makes sure the group does not wipe.

Sometimes it could be a good thing that the corpse was not looted.

That's essentially the same thing though. If the loot was relevant no one would make a fuss if people stopped and looted. But since it's generally marginal to most level 80's, everyone is in a big damn hurry to maximize their time.

I don't mind rushing if I've been in an instance a bunch. I absolutely hate it if I'm seeing it for the first time. Some people just don't care about enjoying the game world. It's about progression to them, and I weep for their heartless chest cavities.

Make looting more profitable and people will do it.

It's not profit. It's relevance. The dungeon is relevant because of the emblems. Looting a few gold or getting a green, for most 80's, is not.

And I don't think it's actually a good solution to make all mob drops relevant.
