Item Accidentally Deposited in GBank

On one of my toons, I accidentally deposited 2 items into the guild bank of the guild I am in. As SOON as I did it I realized, "This isn't my personal bank," and opened a ticket (within 30 seconds of making the mistake). I also mailed the GM of the guild, the officers, and the veterans, asking for my items to be returned. I received a response from one of the Officers who said that the only person with GBank access is the GM. The GM has not been online for 10+ days. Then I received a response from a Blizzard GM who stated, in cookie cutter text, that all items deposited into a GBank become the property of the guild, period.

I understand completely that people should not be able to remove items from a guild that they have deposited for many reasons. I can think of half a dozen situations where someone might ask to have items returned to them that should remain the property of the guild. However, this is not any of those situations.

Had I simply deleted these items, or sold them and then logged out, I could have had them restored easily. Why is this that much different than that?

If the official policy of Blizzard is that once it hits a gbank the guild owns it and there's nothing that can be done (and I imagine that it is since I have received the same cookie cutter text stating this from two GMs), I wish to express my extreme unhappiness and point out how unfair this practice is. As a toon with no ability to remove items from the guild, I should receive a confirmation dialog before I deposit things. I get a confirmation dialog before I delete GREY quality items, but I don't get a dialog before depositing blue items into a guild I can't remove them from? This doesn't seem quite right.

Bottom line - I want my items back. I have mail into the GM of the guild, but if he doesn't log on for 2 months, I don't think I should be out my items that I mistakenly deposited. Or, worse, if he just decides, "Hey, nice," and uses them before reading my mail.

Thanks for your time.

I'm afraid the information you were provided by the Game Master was correct - only the Guild Leader (or those with access to the guild bank tab that you deposited those items into) will be able to return the items to you.

The difference, Bettycrockér, is in that these items became property of another entity (in this case, the guild). Had you accidentally, say, traded the item to another player it would be the same situation. Once you have given an item to another individual (or guild), it is their property and we are unable to renege on the in-game agreement that is created. I do hope that provides some clarification on the "why" of the situation.
