Unable to see certain people's text.

I play this game, sitting next to my fiancé.
Lately, I've been noticing him having conversations with himself in raid chat, or in our guild... and I took a moment to look over at his screen.

To my surprise he wasn't talking to himself, he was in fact talking to another player. Who's text I could not see on my own computer. My first impulse was to clear my ignore list, somehow we invited someone that bothered me at one time or another.

So, I cleared my entire ignore list.

This still did not fix the problem.
My next step was to verify if maybe they had placed ME on their own ignore list. My fiancé asked nicely if they would verify, and they did NOT have me on their ignore list.

I used the /resetchat feature.
I checked the settings on my chat windows.

My last idea, was perhaps these people were people that I had used the "Report Spam" button on. I am almost 100% certain that's what this issue is. I was under the impression, while I was report spam happy. (BTW. If anyone is from Bleeding Hollow, you'd know that Report Spam is your best friend.) That the Report Spam only temporarily ignored the player while the complaint was reviewed, but now I'm noticing that this ignore seems a bit more permanent.

I need to know how to fix this issue, because it appears that I actually NEED to be able to see what these folks have to say, especially if I'm going to be raiding with them.

Q u o t e:
If the /resetchat command didn't work, the next step is to do a complete UI reset. Give it a shot and let us know if it works out for you:

1) *IMPORTANT* Exit the World of Warcraft to your desktop by logging out of the game and exiting. If World of Warcraft isn't closed, then these steps won't have the desired effect.
2) If you used an "installer" for a custom UI, see if it has an "uninstaller" and use it.
3) Inside the World of Warcraft Program Folder, delete the "WTF," "Cache," and "Interface" folders.
4) Restart your computer.
5) Please do not reinstall Addons prior to testing the issue you were experiencing.
6) Make sure that you are using WOW.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE to start the game. Please do not run any UI installers beforehand, as we want to eliminate them as part of the issue.
7) Upon launching the game, you should see the Intro cinematic movie and be prompted to agree to the Terms of Use. Once you authenticate past the login screen, the “AddOns” button should no longer be visible at the lower left corner of the character selection screen. Both points mentioned previously must hold true if you should complete the aforementioned steps correctly.

An excellent suggestion. Please let us know if those steps resolve the issue for you, Au.
