Can't login the WoW Classic server when Simplified Chinese selected as text language

Hello Blizzard support team!

I tried many times to create a character since August 12 using Simplified Chinese client of WoW Classic, but whenever I click the server name I got an error message saying “The language of the server you are trying to log in is different from your WoW client.”
The Simplified Chinese WoW Classic client has been broken since the stress test, but the Traditional Chinese is ok.
I also tried with 1.13.2 (31446) and 1.13.2 (31650), they all got the same error message.
I found that the same problem happened with the BFA client two months ago:

I guess the classic client issue was caused by the same reason as BFA client happened in June.

However, I would like to believe that this is only a technical issue not because of banning Simplified Chinese.

Could you take some time to review this issue?
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks.

Dscale,

We fixed this a little while ago actually and we don’t have the problem when we test on our end. Can you check your build of classic for us? It should display next to the “Play” button. (Version #.##.#.#####) - can you tell us what that number is for you?

Have you tried logging in using English, and does it make the problem go away?

Hey all,

I did the test on my end and was able to reproduce it. We’re poking some folks now. For now, you’ll need to use a different language. Sorry for the inconvenience, but that’s the only work around we have until we can discover why this is happening and find a fix.

Hey all,

Thanks for all the reports so far. Please be sure to have any friends who are also affected by this issue post here too. The more examples we get the easier these issues are to investigate.

We will update the thread as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your patience in these matters.

Just to quash some of the speculation - it’s a bug and it’s still on our radar. We’re working on it. Sorry for the delays so far.

@ Monashi / Uturn

Don’t worry - it’s not intended for the NA client to work like this. There are historically differences with the Chinese client - this much is true, but you aren’t playing on the Chinese client. You’re playing on the North American client. The Classic client is just a modified version of the client that we use for Battle for Azeroth right now, so it should allow use of Simplified Chinese when it’s not bugged.

This is simply a bug, and we’re working on it. There was a similar bug a month or so ago with the live client, but the two clients were being developed separately so the fix for this didn’t make it into the Classic client. I’m sorry we don’t have an ETA on a fix yet, but this first week we’ve been working on a lot of different issues. If I hear anything else I will definitely let you all know.

There’s no reason for the two of you to argue over this - let’s keep this focused on the tech support/bug aspect please. ^^

Hey folks,

Due to the way the bug works, this will take a full client patch to fix. You’ll want to wait for a future build of the game (10.13.3 or later - we are currently on 10.13.2) for the bug fix. In the mean time, your best bet is going to be temporarily using Traditional Chinese or another language to log in.

I wish I could provide a more exact estimate on when the fix will happen, but for now there are work arounds you can use to get in game. Once we are pretty confident it’s fixed, we’ll comment again here and have you all test again.

Thank you all for being so patient! This was a long waited issue and frustrating for everyone who regularly are using Simplified Chinese.

This should have been resolved after the latest patch on version 1.13.2.32089 (Next to the play button). Could you check if the same issue is happening and that it’s on the latest version?
