Just as a side note, I also received the same email as post #122 in the stickied thread. I viewed the source for both that one and the above one and came up with hotmail addresses as original sources. While the one posted in the stickied thread may be an auto-generated hotmail address ([email protected]), I don't believe the one from above is auto-generated. ([email protected]). I don't know if this info is in any way useful, but I thought I'd add it just in case.

I apologize if posting those e-mails violates the code of conduct, but I don't believe it does, since those addresses are not (presumably) those of other players.

There has actually been a rash of this particular variety lately - many different types of purchases.

While you can also report the sending address to the provider - in this case Hotmail, it's likely an email account being used that has either been abandoned by it's owner - or they are totally oblivious it's being used for this purpose.

Zombie email accounts AND systems litter the internet and most everyone that has this issue is totally in the dark it's happening.

There are many reasons to make sure of your system security, ranging far beyond just the security of your WoW account. Things like this also usually make your system take a performance nose-dive and put other information at risk such as banking, credit card and personal identity information.
