Q u o t e:
Nice try, but you're wrong...again!
What do you call the unsolicited e-mails you receive advertising medicine, software, banking and other services? You call that spam, do you not, Klaatu?
So in essence, an unsolicited whisper regarding joining someone's guild could very well be categorize in the same way, couldn't it?
Folks, I understand that most of you are trying to help but please keep in mind the tone in which you convey your message. If you put someone on the defensive they are more likely to ignore or misinterpret your advice.
Ordie, you are mostly correct, what you were doing wouldn't necessarily be considered spam by our Terms of Use definition. However, the Report Spam feature was implemented as a way for the denizens of a realm to determine what type of messaging may or may not be appropriate for the realm, above and beyond our policies. If your statements are deemed unwelcome by those on your realm, well, the results speak for themselves.
The system was mostly meant to address illicit advertisement and spamming ( several lines of the same or similar text in a short amount of time), it can be used to report the Bodypart [ability] spam that occurs from time to time as well. If you wish to dispute any actions that have been taken against your account as a result of these reports you are welcome to write to our Account Administration department and they will take a look. If you feel that the Report Spam system needs to be adjusted in some way feedback is always welcome and we encourage you to post in the Suggestion forum so our Developers and policy makers to review.
