reach 500 posts in one day and Blizzard had no chance to respond.
This is original post from Venan:
"Lately the trade channel has become absolutely inundated by the most vile and crude comments I have seen in my years of playing this game. Although there has always been a lot of garbage there, it has become so filthy and overrun by discussions about sexual preference and discrimination, discrimination of race and religion, politics, sexuality in general and so on, it is sickening.

Before you start stating that the only fixes are using the mature language filters, I have had it on and it makes little to no difference. Sure it may bleep out direct swear words, but it CANNOT change context of a conversation and almost everything comes through anyway. Yes, I could leave trade channel, but there is a need for people to use the channel for its actual intent (trade), and since we are unable to view the LFG channel while in groups or whatnot it also makes it hard to look for raids while grouped and such.

As a parent, I could not ever allow my child to play this game and view the filth that is now overwhelming whenever I go to a city. How could any parent in good conscience allow their child to view what is now just being spammed in the channels which include ASCII art of sexual acts?

I thought it was just my server until I started another character on another server and found out it was absolutely no different at all. The first thing I see when logging on everyday are almost always some crass disgusting comments that are usually sexual in nature.

It is time that Blizzard took action and started suspending accounts. I report these people repeatedly just to see them doing it again the next day.

Please, Blizzard, do something about these players and take some action against them. "

It will be nice to see some official response

It isn't a matter of having a chance to respond, Dimage, but our Community Management team generally doesn't deal with in-game issues such as that. This would be a more appropriate venue to post such an inquiry so I will comment on some of the aspects of this thread.

The advice would be what it always is, submit an in-game petition. Our in-game support staff will look into the matter and take appropriate actions for any policy violations found. Looking into the OP's (from General) petition history it doesn't seem that any petitions have been submitted regarding violations of our Terms of Use.

You are welcome to use the Mature Language filter if you wish but the filter is only there as an added layer of protection for both parents, who do not want their children exposed to such language, and others who do not care for it either. That does not excuse the language as our policies cover both clear and masked language and subject matter.

As a parent I would encourage you to report behavior that you believe would violate our Terms of Use. I also don't think this compares to a city you go to, I think it more akin to a neighborhood you live in. As someone who is invested in your neighborhood (realm), would it not make sense to report activities that are detrimental to the neighborhood when they happen?

By not reporting such behavior it would be like standing around, watching kids spray paint your houses, while gossiping with your neighbors on how the neighborhood is going down the drain.

From personal experience I can tell you that when the denizens of a realm take an interest the realm the entire tone of the chat shifts. This won't happen over night, unfortunately the empty shouts of "reported" and no one actually submitting a report has gone on for awhile. What used to be mild and occasional use of inappropriate language has grown in some cases.

All I can tell you is, submit a petition. If you come across inappropriate behavior, report it. Include the name of the person (and the realm if this takes place in a Battleground or Cross-Realm instance) include the approximate time this occurred and if you can, an example of what was said. That helps us locate the offending chat faster.

Don't shout reported, don't assume someone else will report the behavior themselves. If there are a bunch of violators, report the ones you feel are the worst. Though our goal is to educate our players a warning can quickly turn into a temporary vacation from the game if the behavior continues (and is reported).

Q u o t e:
Does reporting hate speech as spam do anything?

Yes, it would most likely be dealt with as spam. The Report Spam feature was implemented by our Developers as as way to quickly address gold and powerleveling advertisements. It is also used for players who spam the same or similar phrases and for use with the (Body Part) [ability] spam that takes place occasionally.

When looking into these reports it is mostly the frequency of the chat lines that is looked into, not the content. If you feel additional methods of reporting should be available you are welcome to post in the Suggestion forum where your feedback can be reviewed.

ok people wake up BLIZZARD DOES NOT CARE hell they can't even clean up goldshire on Moonguard what makes you think they can clean up trade?

If we didn't care, Beldandie, we wouldn't have the policies we do in place. It is very easy to sit on the sidelines, Beldandie, and say that we don't care or that we can't do something especially when you have no facts to back up your claims. I can see the data, I can see the reports and I can see the actions that our In-Game Support staff has taken regarding such harassment issues.

What I was unable to find was a petition submitted by you regarding this behavior that you are alleging we don't care about.

As with any trend in behavior, these things aren't corrected over night. It takes a concerted effort. Report possible violations that you find and it will be addressed accordingly.

Q u o t e:
The way I've reported people for such things is to right-click on the players name and then hit the report button. Is this the way it should be done or is there another more effective way?

It depends on what you mean by "such things", Nebucanezzar.

Spam, and illicit activities such as gold selling and powerleveling services as well as the body part [ability] spam is best reported using the Report Spam feature.

All other violations need to be reported via an in-game petition to be most effective. Though I understand our queue times are still not as fast as we'd like them they are around a day or two and we will address the reports we receive. We are able to check our logs to verify chat violations.
