Tell me: What's the point of reporting spam?

Why have a feature that is more useless than the ignore button for these gold spammers? They continue coming in force, nothing is taken against the company, our time is wasted by reporting spam or ignoring them, and they hack the game by glitching mechanics by either running underneath the terrain to gather mines or hover above land spelling out some gold selling website.

Why not put off Cataclysm for another month to work on getting these bots off your (OUR) game? You're going to lose people to these spammers because players don't know their intentions are to steal your information to make more spammers for their company and steal more gold.

This isn't a suggestion, this is a Customer Service issue that should be taken into effect immediately. Quit sugar coating the already bad tasting game and fix it with the money you get on a monthly basis. Upgrade some security or give people some authenticators free to use so this ends.

I'm not going to cancel my account because I know better, but this is griefing me and the players that have to listen to this over and over and report it with nothing being done.

I really don't know what to tell you, if you think the most fabulous tool we've ever given players is useless - there really isn't much to say.

It takes a second. Not only does it instantly report these so they can get the attention they need, it puts that account on a temporary ignore for you so you don't have to be bedeviled with that particular spam for that login.

These are almost always stolen accounts. I do hope that never happens to you, but even the most internet savvy individual can fall prey to a particularly well constructed phish or zero-day exploit that no scanner will catch.

Could we put in restrictive filters - probably, but the cost would be a severely crippled chat system because those filters don't ONLY catch that kind of spam - and the spammers just adapt.

This is a battle we fight round the clock, every day of the year. Report Spam is just one tool in the arsenal, but an important one. Trafficking in illicit virtual goods and services is a multi-BILLION dollar a year business, they have a vested interest in stealing as many accounts as they can lay their hands on because that's what their industry thrives on - that....and the people that deal with them.

If they had no customers, they'd have no business and this would all go away. The next time you hear someone talking about buying gold, feel free to inform them they are at the root of this problem and that is NOT a victimless crime.
