Battlenet and real ID

Hey all, I have a friend who I recruited into WoW a few weeks back and we have ran into a simple problem. For some reason, we cannot link our real-IDs in-game. I tried walking him through it many times and finally started digging in options to see if it can be turned off.

In his user interface though, there is no "Battle.net!" options for him; although I have options. Is there something he has to do with his b-net account yet to allow real-id tracking? Verification perhaps?
