Randomly appearing trial account

I logged into my Bnet account today to check the status of my gametime, and there were three game accounts linked- my Burning Crusade account, a old WotLK PTR account that's been there for ages, and an account called "WOW1". It was grayed out, so I clicked it- and now it says it's a 10-day trial.

When I logged into WoW, I now have two accounts to choose from; my main account and this trial account that appeared out of nowhere. It's not causing any trouble, and I'm not going to use it, but I am wondering why it even exists.

It doesn’t appear as though the trial accounts were added during a compromise for either of you. Occasionally players will inadvertently click on the World of Warcraft Trial icon in the Battle.net account which will then add a trial account.

If you wish to have the trial accounts removed, you will need to contact Account Services:
