I'm getting ready to quit (not the game)...

I'm getting really tired of reporting people for stuff and nothing ever happening.

There are some things I can tolerate. I have an auction bot who is on 24 hours a day which I've reported numerous times without any proper action taken. I can tolerate that. It still irritates me, but I tolerate it.

The one thing I cannot tolerate is hate speech. There is a certain person on my realm who I have reported three times in the last week for saying the N word in trade chat over and over again. I could have reported him for extremely vulgar statements as well, but since tickets take for freaking ever, I could not. As we speak, this person is sitting in trade chat talking about how all people of a certain race are criminals not unlike the other times I've reported him. I completed a ticket, then watched as he continued talking about feeding starving children with bodily fluids for another 5 minutes. I deteled the ticket since I have come to the conclusion based on Blizzard's actions that they do not want to stop this behavior. Teliing my kid "one more time and I'm pulling this car over" twice will make the kid do nothing; Bliz needs some parenting classes apparently.

Since talking poorly about people, and referencing their race by using the N word, over and over again, I am getting ready to quit reporting anyone for anything. I'll join the ninjas and the trade spammers knowing empty threats of action against criminal activities (yes, I arrest people for the same thing in California) means very little to nothing will happen to you.

Blizzard, when are you going to get serious about stopping this criminal activity by assigning the appropriate punishment to the action? If you go to jail IRL for hate speech, why is it hand-slapped in the game?

I would like to see what would happen if they put a GM in trade chat for a week. I would pay my realm's salary. I really would. I'm getting ready to quit reporting anything and caring as much as Blizzard has demonstrated they care.

Perception is the key. Just because you believe someone is a bot does not make it so. If you have reported the account as possibly violating our policies then it will be looked into. We will be unable to give you our results but I can assure you we take the integrity of this game very seriously.

How are you reporting them, Kes? Is this on a different account? I don't see any petitions regarding this matter from the account you are posting on.

I'd rather not get into this discussion but, what? I'm not familiar with anyone being incarcerated for speech of any kind. That is why we have the first amendment. I may not like what they have to say but they have the right to say it, to a certain degree, IRL.

The purpose of my post was not to say "what about this guy? take care of him" but was more to wonder why in real life, it's an instant ban and loss of freedom compared to nothing obvious enough for anyone to notice in the game.

Depending where you live, Kes, it isn't.

Looking at your petition history, thank you for pointing me at the other account, I can confirm that your reports have been dealt with appropriately. I can not tell you what the outcome was but if you believe "nothing obvious enough for anyone to notice in the game" occurred, perhaps you are not paying close enough attention.

Depending on the severity of the violation that determines the penalty that is applied, along with the history on the account. Our goal is to educate our players that such behavior is not appropriate for this teen rated game. Some get that message with a warning, some it takes a bit of time. I can assure you though once they have started up that ladder, again, depending on the severity of the violation, they may quickly get to the point where they are unable to play for greater chunks of time and it very well could lead to account closure.

Please continue to report these incidences. Only through vigilance and consistency will the overall behavior improve.

Is this really an appropriate place to be debating the ins and outs of the the First Amendment?

Probably not. I think the important points were covered so I'm going to lock this one up.
