Inapropriate name

If a Blizz GM determines your name is inappropriate for WoW, that's it. It gets changed.
(if someone reports it).

If that happens, you can appeal the change once but if that appeal upholds the change, you are done.

You do not have any rights regarding names in the game. You only have what Blizz allows.

I'm sorry, Long, but a Game Master will not be able to discuss this matter with you, nor does it matter who may have reported you.

Anyone may report any name that they feel may violate our Terms of Use, the motivation behind the report is irrelevant, it is not a violation of any of your rights. When someone reports a name that name is reviewed and if it is found to be in violation of our policies we will either flag the name for a name change or select a name ourselves. Violation of these policies can result in penalties applied to the account, though for first or minor offenses you will likely only receive a warning.

I understand that you may have had the name for a number of months, but please understand that our policies are reactive in nature, if no on reporting you in that time your name would not have come under review. Simply because the name wasn't able to be reviewed doesn't mean that it was deemed acceptable.

If you wish to dispute these actions and the name change you are welcome to e-mail our Account Administration department as the others have advised. They will review what happened and they will either uphold or overturn the action. They are the final arbiters for naming violations.

Thank you and whether they believe me or not a GM did contact me and changed it back within 2 hours.

I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that this issue was resolved, Longpig, but they are questioning how the matter was resolved.

Though I do see that a Billing Rep spoke with you, it seems you already had an issue in which was directed to someone within Account Administration who, when it was your turn, reviewed the previous actions that were taken.

All anyone was trying to do was explain to you the proper course of action when you wish to dispute an action that may have been applied to your account.

So Vrak, would it be safe to say that the phone call made no difference whatsoever in the equation?

I don't know exactly what happened during that call, Silversky, so I can not say for certain and I am in no way accusing the OP or not telling the truth of what they believe to have happened. From what I can see action disputes have a fairly quick turnaround at the moment and a Billing Rep would be able to see that the matter was up for review.

I can see the e-mail disputing the name change and I can see that the matter was forwarded for dispute and it was soon reviewed and overturned. I don't see the name of the Billing Rep on this issue anywhere, which I should be able to see if they had anything to do with the matter.

I, personally, don't know whether or not it would help to call Billing. All Blizzard employees are human so it's not impossible for some good to come of it, but since the majority of the forums say that it wouldn't be helpful, I wouldn't bother Billing unless specifically told to by a blue.

Unless it is a Billing related issue it is discouraged. Yes, it is entirely possible that a member of the Billing staff could have spoken to someone else and helped to get the issue resolved. It can happen, though by policy and procedure that is highly rare and in most cases you are only serving to unnecessarily clog the lines.

It should be mentioned that we continue to look for ways to help our players in all areas and though in some cases we need refer a person to other areas to get a specific issue addressed we are working on being able to transfer your issue immediately and add it to the existing queue for that area.
