Urgent question about the XP capping NPC

I have payed the 10g to cap XP on one of my characters in order to twink. Now, I have been doing random dungeons in order to get a certain item from the satchel of helpful goods. When I receive the item, it says that I gain 825 experience.

Do I actually gain said experience? The purple words that said "plus 825 xp" didn't pop up over my head, nor did it show up in the combat log. Am I in the clear here, or is this a bug?
