About 2 weeks ago, my account got hacked. My main which was a level 51 mage got deleted. I then got banned for spamming gold advertisements (the hacker). I then went on vacation, and had forgotten about WoW for a while because I was pretty mad. I now read somewhere that it is possible to recover lost characters if they are hacked, am I still able?

You do need to report this so an investigation can be done.

And yes, the vital part is finding the source of this or they WILL be back. If they can still get your information, they will just keep returning.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.
