What the hell is going on?

I tried to log in today on my Mage and received a notice saying my password was incorrect. I hit up my email to discover that someone had changed my password. I quickly ran a Spybot S&D scan, fixed any problems I had, changed my email and then reset my password and added an authenticator to my account. I logged into my mage a few hours later and discovered my chat and mail priviledges were, "suspended, pending game master review."

So, what exactly is going on? Clearly my account was compromised, am I going to get banned because of this?

Q u o t e:
I got a mail in my mailbox saying

(this is bigxbear btw)

that they've opened a casefile for restoration and stuff like that. Problem is.. I'm not missing anything.

Then you are extremely fortunate, most compromised cases are not nearly as lucky.

They may have just used your account to advertise (which would account for the notice). If that's so, you'll get an email from your Specialist in a few days saying it didn't appear anything had been removed or damaged.

We do sometimes become aware of compromises either from a friend's report - or our own systems, even before the player themselves realize what has happened.

I do recommend you keep that authenticator on the account for your own protection. They really cannot be beaten for that extra layer of defense.
