Scamming and Looting issues.

On the 23rd of this Month I was in a Pug run of ICC25 lead by a Death Knight by the name of [Removed]. When we initially joined there was no mention of any modified loot rules (GDKP, reserved items etc) once the group was full and really to pull the standard MS>OS, 1 item per boss and nothing reserved loot rules were stated.

On successfully killing Lord Marrowgar, [Removed]started the loot rolls. First Item he rolled for was the Bryntroll, there were 9 mainspec rolls and they were as follows (Ref: [Removed])

[Removed]

He was neither the highest nor the lowest roller, despite which he passed Bryntroll to himself to the objection of the entire raid (Ref: [Removed], [Cross-Link Removed] ). The next two items were both passed to the highest rollers per the loot agreement.

Following this everyone refused to progress any further till he passed the axe to myself, the rightful winner. He then left the raid 1 boss down to pick up the peices. You can see he is wearing the axe in question and that it was looted on the 23rd (Ref: [Removed])

I have sent in 2 tickets requesting the answer to a simple question, will I ever receive the axe in question? Both tickets have been responded to 3 days later by the exact same, unhelpful form letter.

I quote from Blizzard Support (Ref: http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_GB&articleId=43810) "In cases where a "rightful" owner can be proven, these items may also be transferred" I believe I can well and truly verify I am the rightful owner of the item and the victim of scamming.

I appreciate you're busy with Cataclysm and SC2, but I rarely ask for any assistance, and I feel this matter has been handled well below my expectations and previous experience of Blizzard's Customer Service. I understand the privacy issues and I don't wish to inquire or know about [Removed]'s punishment. I would just like to know my real world chances of getting back my Bryntroll? If nil, why Blizzard feels one person’s selfish action should potentially stop 24 other loyal players from enjoying the simple pleasures of raiding and receiving a well deserved item upgrade? Because at the end of the day Ninja’s might not win, but everyone sure seems to lose.

Thank you very much for your time and any assistance in this matter.

I believe both responses indicated that the matter was being reviewed. Unfortunately that is as much information we will be able to provide until the matter is fully investigated.

Please understand that no restoration is ever guaranteed and though we will do what we can if a scam is verified we may simply be unable to help in the way you would like. We will fully investigate any scam reports though and take any and all appropriate actions for any violations of our policies found.

If you are to receive additional information regarding this matter my best estimate is that you will hear something in the next day or two.

In-Game Support would not be working on Cataclysm, that is firmly with the Development Team heading that project. SCII requires mostly technical assistance though support is otherwise available. Neither Cataclysm or SCII determines the type of assistance we may be able to provide though.

Technically, Klaieus, it isn't an item that you are getting "back". It is an item that was dropped and the Master Looter decided who received it, contrary to what you believe should have happened. You did not actually own it though.

As I said previously your report will be looked into but I feel it necessary to clarify a few things.

You quoted our Support Article on what is considered ninja looting but I'm not entirely certain if the particulars were understood.

In the quote above you said that no modified loot rules were mentioned. There is a common misconception that there is some kind of unspoken rule regarding loot distribution. There isn't, not with regard to our policies.

If you use the Master Looting system you are giving the Master Looter permission to assign whatever items that drop to whomever they wish to, including themselves. We do not recognize "ninja looting" as being possible within game, all loot distribution can be controlled by an available looting option. If an agreement or "rule" was made though and that agreement was violated it may be considered a scam. In such cases we may become involved and take what actions are deemed appropriate.

Good luck, Klaieus.
