Confused about RaF

So I decided to do a RaF with a buddy of mine and we did the normal grind and got to 60. I finally go to try and xfer this guy off and get the error message saying I have to wait for a 30 day trial period BECAUSE its a battle.net account. I am a little confused by this.

Is this an old rule still being applied to accounts today as if other accounts that aren't battle.net accounts existed in WoW or is this just very poor wording?

If this is not an old rule that just never got updated and is currently in the form blizzard likes, what is the reasoning behind this?

Also, I read the character transfer, RaF, and battle.net account FAQ's before doing any of this and found nothing of my problem. Maybe I missed something?

Another question, if this is the way they want it, is it possible then for a friend to recruit my main account that already has WotLK on it and just put a lvl 60 version of WoW on the same battle.net account?

Would be very nice to receive some information regarding this as this seems to be a huge barrier to seamless playtime.

Q u o t e:
Thanks for the quick reply,

No, I am not using the same battle.net account for both of the WoW's. I didn't think I could recruit myself with the exact same email.

Recruiting yourself with the same email is fine. One Battle.net can hold up to eight WoW accounts.

Sounds like one of these Battle.net's is under 30 days old. That rule has always been in effect. Once the account ages past 30 days, you should be able to transfer between them - providing all the other transfer criteria are met of course.
