Account suspended, possible hacking?

I was given a 72 hour ban on my account. My character's name is Rashe on Blackhand Alliance side. The reason for this ban is for "Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy" it said I had been buying or selling gold. I have never bought or sold gold and would never do that (I have never had any kind of ban in my 3+ years of playing this game). I must have been hacked and would like to know what I can do to ensure that this ban is lifted and to make sure my characters are not missing anything valuable. I got permission from a RL friend to post this message on the message boards. (Nobody knows my password other than me)

Any help is appreciated and thank you for your time.

Well, you've definitely been compromised - actually, it looks like as early as the 17th, although they may not have done a lot beside look around then.

The danger of posting under someone else's account here on the forums is if you have as yet unidentified malware on your system. That could put THEIR account at risk as well.

Somehow, these folks got your password and ID. Figuring out that source is vital to prevent this repeating. Could be malware, a compromised email - reusing the same pass/ID multiple places...especially websites, phishes - or about 1001 other ways they trick players out of their information.

Since it will be a little while till you can get ingame, I've asked that this be put into the restoration queue for you, to get that process started.

What's vital right now is finding this source so this doesn't repeat. If they CAN get back in, they WILL be back. There is nothing in the world tastier than a freshly restored account.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.
