Quest/Profession problems

Recently I encountered a very odd problem with Wow. I cannot complete quests at all unless they only need me to talk to people! I have tried slaying beasts, but the game doesn't give me credit for it. When I need to collect something, it says I cant collect it. And for one quest I need to get a number of something from a humanoid, but I went through about 100 of them and no luck at all! I also experienced profession problems at that time. When I logged on, both of my professions were gone (not fishing, first aid and cooking)! I tried to learn them back but it said I could only learn JOURNEYMAN! It was the same thing for everything, except fishing and cooking. Fishing stayed fine, but when I went to learn journeyman cooking, it said artisan was next! I do not want to abandon this game because it is my only Burning Crusade enable game, and it has both my strongest and my most used characters. Please help.

This sounds like something either corrupted - or you are running addons that have some major conflicts somewhere. Also note, if you are in a raidgroup - most quests/items won't function.

I'd first try a reset UI.

To do a full reset UI, you will want to save your addons in another spot if you wish to preserve them.

Then rename/delete or move your WTF, Cache and Interface folders while WoW is shutdown. Reboot your system.

Note, if you are running Vista make sure your permissions are set so it does not undo your changes.
