Credit Card Stolen!

I am a trial account user. I tried upgading to the full version on-line several days ago and I kept getting a notification that my credit card account number was wrong. I tried several times and even tried inputing the info for several credit cards held by myself and my wife. It kept saying it was denied and to try again.

I was contacted on Saturday by Visa fraud alert representatives saying they are no longer working with Blizzard due to fruad concerns and that fraud was detected in my attempts to input my credit card information.

Yesterday, we discovered that one of the credit cards I used had been wrongfully billed $70 over two transactions. One transaction was from a WOW gold farming site for $50, the other transaction was for $20 from a different on-line site.

I am now forced to put a hold on all these accounts and the likelyhood that my account info has been stolen is very high. It seems an ouside entity has hacked your system and is redirecting credit card info to their site.

I still cannot get access to the game and my credit cards are now at serious risk. This is probably happening to many trial account holders judging by the forums.

Counselor, that wouldn't have been from our end. The WoW gold farming site is telling, however.

I do see attempts to bill here, but they were denied. Billing would need to tell you the reason for that.

There could be a few possibilities here.

Someone with access to your credit card dealt with an illicit gold outfit and they got your card that way. It is VERY common for them to use their very own ''customers" credit cards to further their own interests on stolen accounts.

Another option is they got your credit card information from your system or email - much the way they steal WoW credentials. At this point, I'm not seeing anything terribly unusual with your account itself. That doesn't necessarily mean the may not have your information and just chosen not to use it while it's a trial.

Even should your WoW account be entered to by a malicious party, your credit card information is not visibile - not even to yourself.

If you'd like to contact Billing on these denials, here are their contact numbers.....

You can also inquire on those other WoW charges with Billing.

I'd recommend doing a full system scan and checking the security of your email account just as though you'd been compromised. What you'd want to check for is much the same.
