At 04/21/2010 23:22 PM UTC I named changed this character from Vex to this, I did this so I could give the name Vex to my old rogue whom i had transfered back to my server (Alterac Mountains).
It is my understanding that according to the terms that I read before I paid my $15.00 to do so:
"Once the name change is completed, your character's old name will be locked from use on the realm for 90 days. After that time, the old name becomes available again and can be claimed by anyone on its realm on a first-come, first-served basis. "
According to my calculations (which i think were right) the name should have become available yesterday 7/20/2010 but the servers were down until 6am today. So i woke up at 7, and logged in to see if I could claim my name but it says the name is unavailable. I can add the name Vex to my friends list so I'm assuming somebody took the name and is under level 10 because they are not appearing on the armory, granted i have never seen them log in. This name meant a lot to me and aside from waiting for this guy to log in is there anyway to find out if someone took my name and when they made it? I recently took a little break from WoW because I'm working full time again but I decided I was going to start playing once I got my name back so I didn't exactly have a chance to find out when the name was taken, but if it was taken before the 90 days and they didn't wake up today at 6am to take it is there something that can be done for me to have access to my name again?
If the character name was taken before yesterday i feel as if i was cheated out of the 90 day policy. I read and understood the terms of changing my name. And I have a copy of the emailed receipt transaction to prove so. Basically I want to know if there is a way to find out when the name was taken.
I plan on using another paid name change to give the name to my rogue Annette. I really want to doubt that someone didn't come first to claim the name before me after the 90 days were up. But if i'm wrong and someone did take it today at 6am i guess ill just kick myself in the head for waking up at 7. But i still feel cheated since i didn't even have access to the servers when my name became available.
if someone can answer how this is possible and how and who I should contact to resolve this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. If I knew that someone would take the name in less than 90 days I would have kept my old name. I had a sense of security knowing that I could change my name back after 90 days on a first come first serve basis.
