RAF / Battle.net Question

So a very strange relative gave me a WoW Battlechest today as a gift. It's very nice of him, but I guess he didn't realize that I've been playing WoW for years already. Anyway.. my question.

I'd love to do the Refer A Friend since I got a free Battlechest because I'd love to have the rocket. How do I do a RAF with myself and add this new account to my existing Battle.net account?

Okay so I emailed myself a RAF request. It gave me a key. I logged into my Battle.net account and used that key to create a new account. Will that work?

Absolutely, Storyteller, you can then use the authentication keys that came with the Battle Chest to upgrade the Recruit a Friend trial account.

Make sure you are upgrading and not creating a new account otherwise you'll need to contact Billing if something goes wrong.

Once you do that you can apply a subscription or game card and you are set. If you use a Game Card the recruiting account will qualify for the subscription benefits immediately, if you use a billable subscription method you will need to wait until the subscription is actually applied before the account will qualify.
