Can GMs Release Names?

I have been looking around for 20 minutes now but cannot seem to find any information on this.

If i send a ticket in for a name, can a GM release a name that (possibly) some inactive accounts level 1 has for actual game use? Some people just reserve names, and possibly don't even play on the server or even play WoW anymore, I was wondering if it is possible to get those names released.

Sidenote: I did check the Armory for the name, and since they are under level 10, the name doesn't show up for my server.

That depends on the circumstances, Chrishansen, but you are welcome to submit an in-game petition and inquire about the name. A Game Master can look into your request and let you know.

It should also be noted that the Armory may not list characters that have not been logged in for awhile. :)
