Hi guys, I'm posting for my friend whose battle.net name is [edited out]. I won't say they account name but its the one that is closed under the above Battle.net (he didn't make the name of the account name either I can promise you. A mutual friend made it when he didn't think [Removed] would play the game).

Ill let him type now and tell you his story (copy and pasting via xfire)...

Hello all I hope you guys can give me some advice and hopefully an admin post. I've had a recent string of unfortunate events with my world of warcraft account. In June, I received a 72 hour ban because I purchased a new computer and got hacked before I could install avast. The computer had wow pre-installed and in nerd fashion I logged in before anything else. This was somewhat stupid of me but the account was closed right away and I didn't exploit the economy by having you replace my gold like most other people (because they didnt take anything :P). They didn't contact me directly just closed my account. Alright so I emailed blizzard about this but got an automated response that did almost nothing and hardly even addressed the concern.

Fine, whatever 72 hours. I'm a clean player and I won't get another ban, no big deal.

Fast-forward three and a half weeks to today and the following kicks me off of warcraft.

[Removed] (It's safe :P)

It completely caught me by surprise and I wish they would have contacted me before assuming (again). I've had my account very active for the last couple of weeks while my brother and I tried to bang out the last fifteen levels of our DK so we can get him geared and raiding. We've been taking turns sleeping (See "nerd fashion", line 12) just so we can transfer and grind heroics with the 80 warrior Inferior has on his account. The first queue I got like three or so hours after we dinged was a very careless player who I made fun of for pulling all the drakes in Oculus. I then left and told him to learn to play. After that I queue again (20 minutes later maybe) and the same person appears. Tempers flare and then I get kicked off.

These are the only two things I could possibly think of for my account banned. I was told that playing during non-peak hours looks very sketchy to gms especially if you plan on only grinding and doing dungeons. I also apologize for me getting heated over a dungeon, if he reported me that fast I'd be surprised but I really doubt that'd close my account. I wish a gm would have contacted me in-game before they starting assuming something. I do believe they should talk to me and discuss my case before they start pointing fingers ('Innocent before proven guilty' hopefully stands in Azeroth)

I would really appreciate an admin post or email. I'm on the phone with them now and have been for 31 minutes... I will try again tomorrow

I am currently jobless and am not taking any schooling so I'm sadly pretty dependent on playing this game a lot when I'm bored.

Thanks in advance

Inferior,

Tech support can't do anything about banned accounts. You will want to email the account administrator from the registered email account in order to appeal the ban. You can also contact them by filling out the webform found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/webform-us.xml?gameId=11

Exploiting the economy means something a bit different. You wouldn't have "had us replace your gold", you could have reported the account compromised and if we found evidence to support that idea then we would have worked to restore whatever items/gold was removed during that time. As you said though, they didn't take anything. Which is rather suspicious behavior when an account is compromised especially when it seems that levels were gained on an individual character while the account was "compromised".

So your brother and you were sharing an account and taking turns playing it? That behavior alone is a violation of our Terms of Use. We do not permit account sharing and only two people may ever access an account. That being the adult registered to the account and one minor child that the registered adult is the parent or guardian of.

I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way. We don't contact you to get your side of the story. We look at the account behavior and if it looks like you are violating our Terms of Use we take what actions are deemed appropriate. You may dispute these actions and we will take another look but we do not require outside or "defendant" testimony.

It is unlikely that our Billing department would be able to help. As advised you'll need to contact our Account Administration department. They will look further into your case and if an error has occurred they will let you know.

Good luck.

No, it isn't a "new thing", Spoiledmilk, account sharing has always been a violation of our policies.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html

Technically, yes, allowing someone else to access your account and play your characters would be a violation of our policies. I can't imagine how simply shutting down the program would be though and someone just hitting the jump button isn't the same kind of interaction we're talking about now is it?

Actively sharing an account, that is the person accessing the characters and playing them, that is a bit different from your sister hitting a space bar, don't you think?

I'm sorry that you do not agree with our policies, experience has taught us that allowing such activities causes a great number of issues. Once your brother comes over and deletes your characters or your sister purchases that mount for 20k gold that you had no intention of buying you may sing a different tune, but it would be better if you simply abide by the rules that you agreed to.

If you have an issue with our policies you are welcome to provide your feedback in our Suggestion forum.
