Do you realize that you were using cookie-cutter builds all along, and that you're given the exact same amount of room for 'choice' as before?
Do you realize how much more fun leveling alts will be?
Do you realize how much more fun Twink BGs will be?
Don't look at choosing specializations as restricting. It's not going to change the way you would have allocated your points in the first place. You can express your deepest creativity for your class in the way that you play it -- that's what truly matters and that is not changing.
