So im currious...what does it take to get a BETA inv from blizzard?

Having 3 accounts...and playing for about 4 years now, ive never once gotten a beta...yes I know it's random and thousands of people are in the same boat, however I see some people that get an invite to everything that has needed a Beta to-date. Just curious if this has anything to do with being more active on the forums(always read, but dont post often) or if blizzard has set people they will always give a beta to because they contribute to the BETA process, and those that dont contribute lose their future BETA's and they are handed out to someone else?

Or am I way in left field and these people just happen to win the lotto alot?

For the large majority of players who receive beta access, it's really random. We try and bring in as many people as possible each beta. It's true that we sometimes select people for testing, but that involves very limited circumstances or promotional contests. Your best shot of getting into beta is really just to opt in.

So if it's really random how can wowinterface.com or curse.com (i can't remember which) offer a beta key to each and every active add on maker?

It's WoWinterface, "Massive AddOn Author Cataclysm Beta Key Give-Away!"

http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33892

They're an official fan site provided the opportunity to do a promotion. My point still stands. The large majority of players who get into the beta come from the opt-in system.
