Do GM's exist anymore or where they hacked also?

After having my account comprimised without any virus's/trojans/spyware on my computer and not have been phished, I finally got my account back and the authenticator removed. First thing I do was log onto my naked toons to open up a ticket. I've lsot over 30k gold and allot of gear amoungst my 4 80's and other toons. Its been 3 days and still my ticket is waiting to be serviced. What needs to be done in order to reimburse my items so I can actually play?

Q u o t e:
its an insult to lay blame on the user, when its not their fault, as ibsneakin did.

I feel it is even worse to dismiss the possibility that the compromise wasn't possible because the user either picked up a keylogger or other malicious program, answered a phishing e-mail or in some other way may have not been completely secure with their log in information.

Æthér, you are welcome to your theories but I'd ask that you do not call people names if you wish to post here. Calling someone a moron is not appropriate. It is also not a good idea to use numbers that have no basis in fact, 200k compromises in 2 weeks is a ridiculous exaggeration. It may not be yours but this is how rumour becomes "fact" by continually repeating it until someone believes it to be truth.

Authenticators were introduced as a method of providing an additional layer of security. Many people do not use them and are fine. That isn't to say that you do not practice safe browsing methods but I'd caution against buying into the latest theory to make its way around.

Queue times fluctuate based on several factors, one of those factors is the number of requests we are receiving but another factor based on how long it takes to complete an investigation and provide our restoration. Now for awhile we were able to replace items and gold and undelete characters, but most people don't understand that we now not only help with that but we also help with lost professions, replacing emblems, honour, arena points, reversing unauthorized transfers, faction and race changes, restoring stripped guild banks (which are a joy unto themselves) not to mention the number of 80's that an account may have on it increases the overall workload because they simply have more items that would need to be restored.

Overall the percentage of compromises has changed very little, but make no mistake there is certainly a noticeable effort to gain access to people's accounts. The increase in phishing attempts alone is very noticeable. Education is the best method of prevention.

Investigations are currently taking between 4-5 days overall to complete, you will be contacted with the results via your registered e-mail address.
