" In closing, I want to point out that our connection with our community has always been and will always be extremely important to us. We strongly believe that Every Voice Matters, ( http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/mission.html ) and we feel fortunate to have a community that cares so passionately about our games. We will always appreciate the feedback and support of our players, which has been a key to Blizzard's success from the beginning.

TL:DR: Words are meant to be read. 1st grade is over.

My friend was banned (Life ban) off the forums because he made a thread inquiring "Why are the GMs deleting my threads when I post criticism about them?" which was also deleted and he followed with one where he insulted them about their beliefs related to their job as GM (it wasn't any bad words or racism or anything, just a remark to the way they delete what makes the uncomfortable).

So when you tell us that every voice matters, it makes me sick to my stomach to think you say that with a straight face, while half of the posters on these forums jump at the throats of others while GMs do NOTHING about it, and my friend took time to criticize that behavior and got banned for life.

We were actively enforcing the forum code of conduct during this period of time, Hoovies. Your friend was not posting constructively, and based purely on what you've said, was in violation of several different tenets of the forum code of conduct here:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/forum-coc.html

Based on what you've posted, this might be a good time to read it yourself. =/

Every Voice Matters is an extremely important value to us, and our stance on that subject remains firm and true. Our policies, such as the code of conduct are not suspended because we're receiving feedback, though, which is why we typically request constructive feedback. Moreover, insults are never called for, and it sounds as though a line was crossed.

I completely recognize that passions were raised over this subject, but passion is not an excuse to be abusive, nor ignore the rules. If your friend would like to dispute this suspension, then the only appropriate avenue via which to do so is via email at [email protected]. We are unable to address such a dispute via this forum.

From what I understand and have seen on friends' accounts, they always give warnings like, "One more slip-up and you're done!"

A friend of mine that posted and got perma-banned never got such a message. He's gotten a 24hr ban before for using the "F" word in a post, but there was no warning about "do this one more time and perma-ban stick!"

I am not here to debate the right/wrong of it. Just asking for consistency. I think if they went about more diligently, and players knew they'd get Action'd if they broke the CoC, there would be fewer "garbage" posts, and the bad ones would be easier to pick out. Players might also be more inclined to use the "Report Post" feature, knowing their reports help keep the forum clean.

Rules are rules, they need to be followed AND enforced all of the time. Forum rules, laws, game rules, or whatever. <3

I understand your perspective, though we do strive for consistency of enforcement. Normally, I'd counsel a constructive post on our Suggestions forum, but as discussions of moderation are generally inappropriate for the forum itself, if you'd like to provide constructive feedback regarding how moderation is enforced, please feel free to write us an email at [email protected].
