So far, from what I can see, there hasn't been an official update on minimum systems specs. However, I would imagine an update will be coming and you can find it at the bottom of the FAQ found here:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/faq/

In the mean time, the only advice I can give ya is to avoid having only 128mb of RAM, that's just not enough.

:) Nice to see a blue, but WAY off the mark. The OP was looking more along the lines of architecture-dependant apps. For the Linux fans out there, that would be like grabbing an i686 architecture package and trying to run it on an i386 machine - not going to work. For a more current picture, a mac app on a Windows machine, or an x64 app on an x86 machine. Possibly along the lines of activation for Windows where you "lock" your software in to the system you have, and if you replace it or even replace enough parts, you need to re-activate it (which can be a pain at times)

That said, I can't see any reason why a new system woudl have any issues running the game client, barring you investing in a Mac or wandering away from a Windows based system and experimenting with Linux, or another open source type system.

Good luck getting in on the beta :)

Good catch, Tauraun, sorry for the hasty response. =P

As far as I know, if you're given access to Cataclysm beta, any changes to your system shouldn't make a difference. Once selected for beta, your BNet account is flagged so if you upgrade your PC, you should still be able to download the client, access beta, and play to your heart's content.

You can see what games your BNet account is flagged for by logging in and then clicking the "HOME" button at the top.
