Hello,

I keep getting about 5-6 of these beta invites a day. I am about 99.9% sure its fake and a scam, as the email it is sent to is no longer my wow account email (as of the battle.net merger). To be sure though I want to ask if this is legit, and if it is, could blizzard stop sending me these. I personally do NOT want to join the beta because I like to not spoil the experience when I first start playing new content.

I know, I know, mmo-champion shows me alot and its all over the web, but I try to limit the exposure.

Here is the email I get:

"World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm Beta Test Invitation!

Get those opt-ins ready for the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm closed beta! The sundering of Azeroth is nigh, and you don’t want to be left out in the cold of Northrend when you could be enjoying the sun-drenched beaches on the goblin isle of Kezan. To ensure you’re opted-in and eligible as a potential candidate, you’ll need a World of Warcraft license attached to your Battle.net account, have your current system specifications uploaded to the Battle.net Beta Profile Settings page, and have expressed interest through the franchise-specific check boxes.

Get the Installer - Log in to your Battle.net account: <Link Removed by Me>

** IMPORTANT ** To avoid graphical bugs and other technical issues, please ensure your video card drivers are up-to-date.

Enjoy the game!

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
<Link Removed by Me>"

and since this probably a spam, how the hell can I stop getting so many of these a day? I tried filtering and marking them as phishing scams, but they just keep showing up.

Thanks.

You may find some relief from phishing emails by changing your registered email address to a brand new email account used solely for the World of Warcraft and Battle.net. Typically, malicious parties acquire your email address from various websites where email addresses are publicly displayed. Accordingly, we encourage you to avoid using this email address to join any websites, sign up for any email lists, or post on any public sites.
