My friend got an email from Blizzard saying that his account was being canceled due to unfair economic practices was affecting the economy or something (he deleted the email).

I know this guy. He's a very casual player who never got a character above 30. What, exactly, could he have done to violate terms and conditions? Mind you, I know for a fact he would never buy Gold from a gold farmer. Like I said, he's real casual.

Now he's very upset (understandably) at Blizzard. Why would Blizzard do something like this to someone who really probably didn't have more than 100G or so... and what can we do to make it right?

It's quite common for actions of this nature to be the result of a compromise - many times the player may not even be aware. They don't always break in and strip accounts - sometimes they use them to advertise, transfer stolen gold, etc.

In any case, in the case of account actions, Account Administration are the proper folks to contact to ask for a review.

They can be reached at wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com.
