So I talk a long time friend who has played wow for years and stopped a the end of TBC into coming back to wow and xfering to my server.

about a week after we are playing together and I send him 3k gold in the mail before i logg out for the night.
about a hour and a half later I get a phone call and his account gets a 3 hour bann for abusing the economy
and about 2 days later his account has now been permanently closed for violating the TOS for purchasing gold. I have had a ticket opened ingame since the first 3 hour bann with no reply he tried calling and got the run through with being transferred to a total of 6 reps before being hung up one.
I dunno when blizzard made the decision to out source to India with the crappy phone support but i guess the money went to there heads.

So my question is the following.

Since when does giving away gold to friends = banning?

First person to reply with the account being compromised will be declared failure for life as the account has a authenticator.

There is no rule against gold loans in-game, Satanicpalli, gifting gold or loaning it to your friend is perfectly fine, as long as the situation is exactly as you stated it above, then your friend should not have been suspended or banned. Can you provide me with his character name and realm, please; I would like to look into this a bit further. While there is little I will be able to do in the way of unlocking the account, as that has to be dealt with by our Account Administration department, I would be interested in getting information on the situation.

Also, I would like to mention that ALL of our support is “in house” Satanicpalli. We do not outsource any of our representatives, be it phone support or in-game Game Masters. There should have been no reason for you to get transferred, let alone six times, as this is not a situation that can be dealt with over the phone.
