Hello, I need an authenticator removed from my account, i've been trying to access my account for the past 30 minutes or so, but i've been blocked by an authenticator I didn't set up. I read a lot about this and I guess this means i could have possibly been hacked..... I'd really like some help in getting to the bottom of this, Please remove the authenticator from my account asap!

thanks!

They were actively on this account, Luv - it's been locked for your protection.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

ok how am i suppose to secure my account if i cant log in it, because some jerk that hacked my account put an authenticator on it?

You secure your system and your email account. Let me take a look.

Edit: Ok, they were still online making mischief, so I asked this be locked down for you.

Please check your email for further instructions on how to get this unlocked once you are certain both your system and your email account are secure.

the store is presently out of stock on the US Authenticators (clickie link and scroll down on the US version's page). for those of us that the mobile is not an option, what can you suggest? I have been just fine for 3 years without one and never been hacked, but my wife's account had been hacked from a totally clean PC, and now has an authenticator on it (from the hacker). now i want to get one (so that asshat doesnt get mine the way he got hers and puts a mobile auth on mine), but dont have a smartphone, and u are sold out.

I just answered in the other thread, Beef. They actually removed this themselves, you should be able to access the account.

As to the authenticator, yes - at the moment they are out of stock. It's been quite some time since we've been sold-out, I don't have a date but I know they are looking for more as soon as possible.

I'd bookmark the store and check back regularly.

Am i correct in reading that to mean that the Admin folk will put an Authenticator on a compromised account as a means of locking it down to protect the rightful user? if so, please clarify on this practice, as my wife was given the go ahead to use her account, and then got logged, and denied access via Authenticator. i have since asked her to try to log on, and she was asked for the code once, then after that was able to log on, then got logged, and now cannot log. are people there working on her account right now as we type? or is her account getting turned out again?

No, the compromisers add those to give themselves a bit more time in the account.

When WE lock an account we send you an email with instructions. That is to give you a chance to find the source and make certain your system and email are secure.

When I said 'themselves' - I meant the compromiser. They do that sometimes in hopes they can reuse the authenticator.
