Fake GMs, look out.

So, I was leveling a warlock and I see I had a real-id friend request. The name (which I won't be saying here, don't want to violate ToS) was similar to one of my friends and I clicked it, and later realized they weren't the same person.

However, as I am trying to think of who it could be, they whisper me saying I violated the ToS by trading large amounts of gold to another account. However, this was a recently power leveled recruit a friend account and I was paying for their dual spec/skills all the way up through 60, mounts, etc. They said the IP was traced to another country (which is impossible), because my friend I recruited has only been playing WoW over at my house, which they were staying at for a few days.

Now I'm slightly worried because of two things, they found my e-mail. (WTF?) and added me to real-id. Another thing that worries me is the possibility of it actually being a GM and me saying stuff like "Cya scammer" and being banned, lol. I was always under the impression that GMs would only whisper you in WoW and would have a [Blizz] insignia next to their name, is this still the case? Or has there been an update I've missed on how they handle their visits?

Any feedback would be appreciated - blues or not, anyone experiencing the same issue lately, etc. etc.

Please do report that for investigation, Not.

Not sure how they would have that much information. Do you happen to use the same pass/ID - email on say....a guild website?

Any of your guildmates been compromised lately? Would they have your email in their contact lists?

We don't contact you through real ID. Anyone claiming to be a Game Master will contact you ingame and WILL have the logo next to their name.
