Remaining Privacy Issues

There are still some privacy issues going on here, guys...

1) Sharing personal info with Massive. Blizzard changed their TOU to let them do it, and you agreed to it when you accepted the TOU.

2) RealID ingame security flaw. It is currently possible for a mod author to obtain your RealID if you haven't disabled it via Parental Controls. Once they obtain it, they can send it on any channel the mod can use (unseen by you) to anyone else. Your real name and email address is at risk.

3) Friends of Friends. RealID information will still propagate ingame to friends of friends, who you personally have no control over.

Blizzard should solve these items by:

1) Reaffirming their previous statement (the one present when we created our accounts) that they will never share our personal information, including our real names, with anyone unless forced to do so by the legal system. Alternatively, promising that if they offer the ability to share our information with outside organizations, ensuring it will always be an active option we have to select - i.e. Facebook sharing is OFF until we actively log into our accounts and turn it ON, unlike RealID which is ON until we establish Parental Controls and turn it OFF.

2) Removing the security flaw in the LUA API.

3) Altering ingame RealID so that it does not propagate to Friends of Friends. Or enabling us to opt out of friend-of-friend so our RealID's propagate only to friends. Or, finally, enabling us to attach an alias to our RealID so we can share that online "handle" with anyone but still protect our privacy and identities.

An apology would be nice, too, but I don't see that ever happening.
