Need help restoring items from race change

I very recently race changed from gnome to dranei. In doing so, my quest log was emptied. I am the first person in my guild in line for shadowmourne.

I had 36 shadowfrost shards. Now I have 0.

I very much would like to see the quest progress restored. It has taken over a month of my time to get this far, and I am roughly 3 weeks away from finishing it.

I DEFINITELY would not have race changed had I known doing so would remove my proress on this quest.
