RaF Level Granting

I used the Refer a Friend feature that is being advertised on the front page of the WoW website, i leveled two characters (one on my main account, and one on a second account) to level 34. but neither of them are on my original server, as the only reason i used RaF was to level alts quickly on another server. Today i remembered about the RaF level granting, and so i went to my main server, hopped on my lvl 31 shaman, and made a lvl 1 alt on my new account.

I then tried to Grant my Shaman a level, but it didn't work. I read the FaQ about RaF, Which said that the character that is gaining the levels cannot be higher level or of equal level, but i think that if i level an alt on another server (Using RaF) then i should be able to create a lvl 1 alt on a main server and use the Level granting system to give levels to one of my main characters.

Edit: made it clearer.

I sincerely apologize for any confusion, but you are unable to grant levels to characters on a different realm. As is stated within the Recruit-a-Friend FAQ:

Q u o t e:
Are there are any restrictions on granting levels?

Yes:

1. Levels may only be granted to characters on a veteran account by characters on a linked recruit account
2. Levels may only be granted to characters of the same faction and on the same realm
3. Levels may not be granted to characters over level 59
4. Levels may not be granted to characters of equal or higher level
5. Levels may not be granted once a 90-day account link breaks
6. Levels may not be granted to veteran characters with XP gains disabled.
