Holy Shield

Idle Thought.

Holy Shield is being changed from a 30% block chance button with a bit of reflected damage being hit every 9 seconds to a passive permanent 5% block chance with a bit of reflected damage, for a class with a Mastery that .... increases block chance.

Is it just me or does that feel a bit silly? Not only do they do the same thing (aside from the damage component), it's yet another passive buff to click and forget for a class that could use less passive things.

Wouldn't Holy Shield as an ability have a better identity as a block/shield-related cooldown, either offensive or defensive, with a short to medium duration (e.g. 40 secs - 2 minutes)?

We are going to turn both Holy Shield and Shield Block into short cooldowns. A short cooldown is an ability that you don't save for an absolute emergency (like Shield Wall) but we also don't want it to be on such a short cooldown that it feels maintenance-y. It's a tricky number to get right, but something in the 30 sec to 1 min zone feels about right. Then you might use Holy Shield one GCD instead of SoR or you can choose to save it until the next big boss attack.
