It's not enough.

It's nice that you've listened to the overwhelming feedback from the community and made the right decision to scrap the RealID forum initiative.

However, after re-reading the statement from Mr. Morhaime, it's apparent that you didn't quite get it. Blizzard lost my trust, and the trust from a lot of other people, and a simple retraction is insufficient to win back our respect.

Q u o t e:
As a result of those discussions, we've decided at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.

"At this time." Great. So when should we expect to revisit this argument? Another two months?

Q u o t e:
Over time, we will continue to evolve Real ID on Battle.net to add new and exciting functionality within our games for players who decide to use the feature.

That's what the CMs said already -- you had to "decide" to use the forums, nevermind that you pay for access or that they're essentially required for technical support.

This indicates to me that nothing has changed except the public-facing statement. You need to:

- Apologize -- none of this "we admit it was taken the wrong way" bull, but a real apology for trying something this boneheaded in the first place.
- Commit -- to not using deceit and coercion in the future to foist things on your customers.
- Promise -- to bury the idea of selling personal information without explicit and informed consent, forever.

I'm still planning to have my data nuked on Monday.
