Put the Blame Where it Belongs

I think we are getting mad at Blizzard, when we really need to be upset at the people who are the real source of the forum problems, the people who have so little regard for their fellow humans that they cowardly hide behind a screen name and spew vile verbal poison at others. Seeing that lack of respect upsets me more than Blizzard's actions, I was raised to treat others better.

We also are missing the point that the people who would steal our identity, stalk us, or otherwise harm us, should bear the blame for their actions. There is a need for accountability for actions in this day and age, and I guess Blizzard is trying to inject some accountability into the forums. I do hope that Blizzard includes a way for a legitimate poster to inform them if the information from the forum has been used for illegal purposes.

Unfortunately, I think that it will require that we as part of the World of Warcraft community have to start reporting harassment more instead of hoping that the mods will see it. Maybe if we stop standing on the sidelines and begin to help Blizzard clean up the forums, it will become a better place to post. I've seen a lot of life in my 61 years, sometimes things do get better. But it requires that people stand up for what they believe in.
