Did we really break the rules?

I hope this is the right forum.

Basically two friends and I shadowstepped/feral charged to the bankers in stormwind, through the window, and camped them for about 20 minutes. We've done this probably 5-6 times in the past several months and never been warned, even though I know for a fact we've been reported for it.

Then last night, all 3 of us got a whisper from a GM and teleported to durotar.

Where is the consistency? What I'd like to know is if we really broke a rule or if one GM mis-interpreted the rules and made a mistake and it's ok for us to do this again in the future.

We didn't wall climb or exploit in any way. All we did was shadowstep back to the bankers, which I feel is a legitimate use of the ability. "Clever use of game mechanics?"

I'm not certain how you would know that for a fact unless you witnessed the report being submitted or submitted a petition yourself. If you had been reported the matter would have been reviewed, the activities and duration may not have warranted contacting you at the time. :)

Killing NPC's is not necessarily a violation of our policies, it depends on which NPC's, the amount of time it was being done, as well as a few other factors. It is very possible that given your previous history of doing this it was decided that because you were making a habit of disrupting the area in that way that we should take further steps to hopefully curb that behavior.

Can the guards see and attack you in that location? If not that would not necessarily be considered a clever use of game mechanics.

We were just moved, no e-mail at all. Does that mean something?

Yes, Quezishere, it means that the Game Master decided to only verbally warn you in the hopes that you would stop. We don't actually enjoy penalizing if we don't have to. Our goal is to provide a fun and fair environment for all. If we can simply provide a verbal warning instead of applying penalties that may result in temporary removal from the game I would think that would be a good thing.
Q u o t e:

Every single time we do it people say they're reporting us and give us a hard time. I really can't imagine how every single time they said that none of them actually reported us and this was the first time someone bothered to REALLY open a ticket, especially since we were only back there for 20 minutes at the most.

You'd be surprised. I've looked into several cases where nearly everyone is shouting "Reported" and not one petition was submitted. In some cases though, with queues how they are the person who submitted the petition simply closes it before it was answered.
Q u o t e:

I'm not upset at all. I was just hoping for some clarification of if this is consistent or not.

I can't say for certain that if you do this again you will be actioned, Quezishere, it would depend on the circumstances. Like I said we don't enjoy penalizing people if we can help it, our time would be much better spent helping players with actual issues instead of looking into cases where people are intentionally trying to be a nuisance to others.

I hope you can understand our point of view on the matter and heed the recommendation that the Game Master gave you.
