$500 in holding charges... (Now resolved)

I took my account off ice this weekend. Spouse calls today to tell me there are 4 charges from Blizzard. I said there should be a 14.99 charges plus maybe a couple $1.00 charges that would go away in a few days.

The $14.99 was there, but the three pending charges weren't $1.00. Two of them were $149.90 each and one was $199!

The bank says they'll be gone in three more days, but until then we're $500 in the hole and we have groceries to buy. Blizzard's billing line is so full they won't even put me on hold. I did send an email, but I'm not exactly holding my breath.

Anybody else had temporary holding charges that were this extreme?

EDIT: Sorry, it's actually $400. The $199 was actually $99 but I was trying to make sense of a frustrated spouse's phone call when I posted.

Yea cuz its just impossible that blizzard made a mistake uh? But yes i have had blizzard do the same thing to me but nowhere as extreme as your situation

It is not impossible, Baby, but it is extremely unlikely, especially to this degree.

Usually if you initiate a purchase such a Transfer or Faction Change our system will ping the bank the credit card you are using is with. It will inform the bank system that you are attempting to make X purchase for Y amount. Your bank will let us know if the funds are available and if they are hold those funds until the transaction is complete.

If there is an error along the way, either something the bank's system doesn't allow or ours the transaction is canceled. The funds held are still held though and usually take 3-5 days to become available once more, depending on your bank's policies. What usually happens is after the transaction fails the person attempts it again and it is very possible that the transaction attempt will continue to error out. Multiple attempts equal multiple held funds.

As others have stated a charge of $149.90 and $199 would only be possible through the Blizzard Store.

I am very sorry for the frustration and obvious inconvenience this has caused you. I'm not certain if anything can be done from our end but a Billing Rep should be able to let you know. The only charge I could find is a subscription fee from a few days ago.

Is there any kind of description in your bank statement, Villona?

Villona, are you at the location on your account (i.e. have access to the phone number listed for the account)?

I am, but it looks like things are being taken care of (unless you have info I haven't gathered as of my above post).

And it's awesome that it looks like you were willing to call me directly to help. Thanks.

Awesome, thanks for letting me know. I'm glad everything worked out.
