That's rough =/. I find that a tonic of too much caffeine, liberally swirled with an idyllic outdoor location, and en-structured with outlining can help to a considerable degree.
Of course, sometimes you just need to sit down and write.

Shifting realities always reminds me of the Mage: The Ascension tabletop RPG. I was very fond of that game, actually.

Huge, huge White Wolf fan.
I mostly played Mage, Vamp and Werewolf though. We'd use the other settings for flavor now and then, but we mostly used one of those three.
It's a personal thing, but I prefer the old settings to the revised versions. I don't mean to disparage them, they did do good work on the new settings and especially the new systems. It just feels to me as though some of the 'edge' has been lost somewhere along the line.

I enjoyed the Elf Mage storyline, though I imagine that one Mage storyline is much like another.
Though that could have just been the wonder of Cone of Cold, Glyph of Paralysis, Crushing Prison, Blizzard etc.
