Real Problem with Real ID

Here's a real life issue that has occurred with real names being bandied about.

My husband gets on his Facebook (which, by the way is listed under his alias rather than his real name) to see a message on his Wall telling him that his niece is NOT the one by her real life name who got arrested for drug use.

Come to find out someone in her hometown where she and her husband live who has the same first and last name was arrested and the name published in a local news paper (being that the person was an adult, this is allowed - children, however, are exempt from having their names published in news articles of this nature).

Mind you, it didn't take much for someone to take a name they saw in the newspaper, make an erroneous assumption, and boom, my niece is being accused of doing drugs and being arrested.

Now take that here.

You have a common name. So, how many that have the same name as you want their bosses coming on here and then getting chewed out because there is some confusion and a shared name becomes their liability?
