RealID = cannot ever post on WoW forums

I understand what RealID is supposed to do, and I even think it is likely to work. What I don't think people are considering is the consequences for at least some people.

I, like most people, work. RealID means that I can never, ever, ever post on Blizzard forums again once it goes live because if I do I risk potential employers finding out with a simple Google search that I game and that still has very negative connotations for many people when applied to people over the age of 16.

You might say, well, they won't know that it is you for sure, but you'd be wrong. My real name is unique. I have never had Google pull up a reference to it that wasn't me. Not once. Even if I were not in the unusual circumstance of having a unique real name it would still increase the chance of potential employers finding "negative" information about me simply by prompting them to investigate deeper to see if that "John Doe" is the "John Doe" applying for position X or forcing you to either admit you're a gamer in the interview or to lie about yourself, potentially contradicting something they have already identified as true and being caught in the lie.

With that in mind, I will bid you all farewell just before RealID goes live.
